Sexual Health

The concept of Sexual Health Redefined refers to a state of physical, emotional, psychological and social wellbeing related to sexuality. It is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity but involves a positive and respectful approach to sexuality, sexual relationships and the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free from coercion, discrimination and violence.

A holistic view of sexuality promotes a sense of self-acceptance and responsibility, and the ability to express sexual feelings and behaviors in ways that are congruent with one’s values and beliefs. It also emphasizes a communal aspect of sexuality, reflecting the importance of being in intimate relationship with others, communicating about sexual needs and desires, acting responsibly, setting appropriate boundaries and avoiding non-consensual or abusive sexual behaviors.
